Steve and Claire Glencross took over the reins of The White Horse in February 2013, leaving behind their corporate city worlds, in exchange for the less frenetic shores of Rutland Water where they both grew up.
With a keen eye for detail and a vision for perfection, Steve and Claire have completely refurbished this 17th Century former Courthouse to create a haven of peace and tranquillity in the heart of Empingham village.
They have worked closely with Head Chef Ian Kembery in creating a gastronomic treat, so whether it’s a short pit-stop refuelling lunch you’re after, or a decadent dining experience: Sit back, relax and enjoy all that The White Horse has to offer.
“We both have such fond memories of the pub from our childhood and wanted to recreate a place that we would be proud of. We gutted and refurbished the entire body of the pub , stripping it back to how it should be, exposing wonderful natural features such as open fires and wooden floors.
We have set very high standards and expect the food, beer, service and environment to be excellent. We are both very excited to have taken on The White Horse and look forward to meeting customers who appreciate a warm welcome, great food and drink!”
